A RUSSIAN SILVER TEAGLASS HOLDER, UNKNOWN PRIVATE WORKSHOP, MOSCOW, LATE 19TH CENTURY - Of barrel form with a rounded handle incorporating a thumb rest. The body engraved on one side with a rocaille composition forming an asymmetrical cartouche, left uninscribed. The compact proportions and curved profile reflect a decorative variation on the traditional podstakannik form. Hallmarks: Maker’s mark ”ФI” in Cyrillic in a rectangular cartouche, 84 silver standard with kokoshnik facing left in an oval punch, Moscow. Weight: 3.1 oz., (86 g.) Dimensions: H: 3 5/8 in., (9.2 cm.) Conditions: Good overall condition with minor surface wear, light scratches, and traces of oxidation consistent with age and use.
