A RUSSIAN SILVER TEAGLASS HOLDER, MOSCOW, LATE 19TH CENTURY, BY OVCHINNIKOV - Of cylindrical form, in the Pan-Slavic style, raised on three balled feet and fitted with a twisted handle, the body richly decorated in the Pan-Slavic taste with interlacing strapwork in a continuous braided pattern beneath a band of geometric and rosette ornament. The rim has a repeating classical frieze. The holder retains its original cut-glass insert with faceted decoration. Marked on the base with the Moscow assay mark ”84” and the maker’s mark ”ОВЧИННИКОВЪ” (Ovchinnikov). Weight: 4.4 oz., (124 g.) Dimensions: H: 2 5/8 in., (6.7 cm.)
