A RUSSIAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER TEA GLASS HOLDER WITH A CUT-CRYSTAL GLASS - Of cylindrical form on a ring foot, with a relief twisted handle. The body is decorated with a naturalistic floral composition of flowers and butterflies in the Art Nouveau style. One side bears a presentation inscription reading ”I.M. Veiglis // in memory // from // D. Pospelov”. Fitted with a cut-glass insert. Hallmarks struck to the base of the handle, interior, and underside: 84 silver standard with kokoshnik facing left in an oval cartouche with assay master’s initials ”ИЛ” (Moscow Assay Office, Ivan Sergeevich Lebedkin, appointed 1899), and maker’s mark ”П.А.” in Cyrillic for Petr Abrosimov in a rectangular cartouche. Petr Evstratovich Abrosimov, merchant and owner of a silverware factory founded in 1869, active 1869–1908, Moscow. In 1894, small silver objects were produced for 60,000 rubles (see Postnikova-Loseva, no. 2777). Weight: 5.5 oz., (154 g.) Dimensions: H: 3 7/8 in., (9.8 cm.) Conditions: Good overall condition with surface wear, light scratches, and minor oxidation consistent with age and use. Glass insert present. Interior gilding is worn.
