A RUSSIAN PARCEL-GILT AND NIELLO SILVER CREAMER, PRIVATE WORKSHOP, MOSCOW, LATE 19TH CENTURY - Of low, bulbous form on a ring foot, the body decorated on both sides with symmetrical engraved floral compositions enhanced with niello. The interior and exterior are gilt, creating a rich contrast with the darkened ornament. The handle of simple curved form complements the compact proportions of the vessel. Hallmarks: Indistinct assay master’s mark with date, 84 silver standard, and maker’s mark in Cyrillic ”ИА” in a rectangular cartouche, Moscow. Weight: 2.6 oz., (74 g.) Dimensions: H: 2 1/4 in., (5.7 cm.) Conditions: Good overall condition with minor surface wear, light scratches, and areas of wear to the gilding consistent with age and use.
