A LOT OF EIGHTEEN FABERGÉ RUSSIAN SILVER FLATWARE PIECES, MOSCOW, CIRCA 1900 - Comprising six table knives with silver handles and steel blades, six tablespoons, and six dinner forks. Each piece was executed in the refined late-Imperial Russian Rococo-revival taste characteristic of the workshops of the House of Fabergé. The handles of tapered form with gently rounded terminals and molded borders, the terminals with scrolling foliate ornament and stylized shell motifs enclosing a cartouche. The knife handles are fitted with steel blades, the spoons with oval bowls, and the forks with four tines. The pieces bear the typical marks of the Fabergé workshops in Cyrillic together with the Russian silver standard mark ”84”, indicating the Imperial Russian 84-zolotnik silver purity used in Russia before the Revolution. Flatware of this type was produced by the Moscow branch of the firm during the reign of Emperor Nicholas II and formed part of table services supplied to aristocratic households and wealthy clients of the firm. Similar Fabergé flatware services with foliate handles and the 84 standard are known from circa 1900 examples produced by the firm’s Moscow workshop. Total weight: 54.8 o., (1555 g.)
