A LOT OF SIX SÈVRES PORCELAIN PLATES AND TWO SAUCERS FROM THE ”BLEU AGATE” SERVICE, FRANCE, LATE 19TH CENTURY - A fine set of Sèvres hard-paste porcelain plates and saucers from the celebrated ”Bleu Agate” service, decorated with a pale agate-blue ground richly embellished with elaborate burnished and matte gilding in the form of stylized palmettes, anthemion leaves, and scrolling classical ornament arranged in concentric border bands, the cavetto centered with a gilt rosette medallion. The reverse with various Sèvres factory and château marks, including the interlaced L’s enclosing the date letter for 1846, an underglaze red château mark for Château de St Cloud dated 1846, and additional decorator and château inventory marks. Dimensions: Plate D: 9 3/4 in., (23.5 cm.), saucer D: 4 1/2 in., (11.5 cm.) Conditions: Very good overall condition with light stacking wear and minor rubbing to the gilding.
