A THURINGIAN GOTHA PORCELAIN CUP AND SAUCER, DUKE ERNST I OF SAXE-COBURG AND GOTHA, 19TH CENTURY - A gilt porcelain cup and saucer with a relief portrait bust of Duke Ernst I of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, father of Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria. The pieces were produced by the Gotha Porcelain factory in Thuringa, Germany during the first half of the 19th century. Germany, 19th century. Dimensions: Cup H: 3 3/4 in., (9.5 cm.); Saucer D: 5 in., (12.7 cm.) Conditions: Very good, with some minor rubbing to gilding in places. Manufacturer's mark worn but still faintly visible.
