A FRENCH PARIS PORCELAIN GILT AND HAND-PAINTED CABINET CUP AND SAUCER, CIRCA 1825–1840 - The cup of slightly flaring cylindrical form with loop handle, richly decorated overall in burnished and matte gold over a white porcelain ground. Each side centered with an oval reserve finely painted with polychrome floral bouquets composed of roses, asters, and assorted blossoms against a pale ground. The gilt field is further embellished with engraved classical ornament, including stylized columns, scrolling volutes, and anthemion motifs. A continuous engraved leaf border encircles the lower register. The interior is fully gilded in bright burnished gold. The conforming saucer with matching burnished gilt well and engraved leaf decoration, the underside left white. The base with red overglaze decorator’s numerals. Dimensions: H: 3 3/4 in., (9.5 cm.). Suacder D: 5 in., (12.7 cm.) Conditions: Minor rubbing and wear to gilding consistent with age and use. Light surface scratches and scattered firing specks. No visible cracks or restorations.
