A LARGE CHINESE CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL CHARGER WITH CRANES AND FLOWERS, 20TH CENTURY - Finely executed Chinese cloisonné enamel charger of scalloped circular form, richly decorated with a central scene depicting red-crowned cranes amid flowering branches, pine trees, tropical foliage, and garden rocks. Additional birds appear in flight and beside a pond populated by fish, all rendered in vivid polychrome enamels against a light blue ground. The border is ornamented with scrolling floral and foliolate motifs in gilt wirework on a cobalt-blue field. The reverse is enameled in turquoise blue with a repeating floral diaper ornament and a gilt rim. Presented on a carved hardwood display stand of openwork scrolling form.
