A PAIR OF JUGENDSTIL COPPER AND WOOD GOBLETS, CONTINENTAL EUROPE, EARLY 20TH CENTURY - Each goblet is of hand-worked copper construction with a gently tapering cup decorated beneath the rim with a band of geometric square motifs in relief and raised on a dark-stained wooden stem applied with small copper bosses and terminating in a circular copper foot. The restrained geometric ornament and combination of copper and wood are characteristic of the Jugendstil movement and reflect the influence of the Arts and Crafts aesthetic prevalent in Central Europe during the early 20th century. Dimensions: H: 11 in., (28 cm.), D: 5., (12.7 cm.) Conditions: Surface wear, scratches, oxidation, and patination throughout are consistent with age and use.
