A PAIR OF OTTOMAN OR ARMENIAN ENGRAVED COPPER CANDLESTICKS, 19TH CENTURY - Each of tapering bell form with cylindrical socket rising from a broad spreading base, the entire surface densely engraved with foliolate arabesques, geometric ornament, stylized floral motifs, birds, and numerous figural reserves depicting standing and seated human forms in traditional attire. The decoration is arranged in repeating cartouches and interlaced bands characteristic of Near Eastern metalwork of the Ottoman period, displaying strong Armenian or Anatolian provincial influence. The necks are further enriched with geometric border ornament and scrolling vine patterns. The warm copper surfaces retain a rich natural patina acquired through age and use. Dimensions: H: 15 in., (38 cm.) Conditions: Overall good condition with age patina, surface wear, oxidation, scratches, and minor losses consistent with age and use.
