A RUSSIAN PARCEL-GILT-SILVER ENGRAVED TEA CADDY, 19TH CENTURY - A finely engraved Russian parcel-gilt silver tea caddy of rectangular form with a domed hinged lid and gilt interior. One side depicts a seated Japanese figure beside a fence and flowering plants, accompanied by a Cyrillic inscription referencing tea, while the remaining panels are ornamented with stylized flowers, grasses, and decorative botanical elements executed with fine linear engraving. The gently arched cover is embellished with engraved floral ornament and opens to reveal a richly gilt interior intended to preserve tea leaves and protect the silver from corrosion. Hallmarks: Cyrillic letters ”IPP” and kokoshnik. Weight: 9.8 oz. (280 g) Dimensions: H: 3 3/4 in., (9.5 cm.) Conditions: Overall good condition. Surface wear, light scratches, minor dents, and tarnish consistent with age and use. The engraved decoration remains crisp and well defined. The hinged cover operates properly and closes securely.
