A FINE RUSSIAN SILVER SAMOVAR BY MOROZOV, 1896 - A Russian silver samovar manufactured by the famed St. Petersburg silver firm of Morosov in 1896. The body of the piece is decorated with a repeating guilloche pattern of vining branches. The base is square, with four lions' paws as supports. Two turned handles are affixed to the side via acanthus leaf supports. Hallmarks: Morosov with Imperial Warrant Eagle, 84 silver proof, St Petersburg mark, Cyrillic 'ASh' assayer's mark, 1896 date mark, 84 silver proof also on handles and spout. Weight: 165.9 oz., (4,703 gr.) Dimensions: H: 18 in., (46 cm.) Conditions: Patinated throughout. All parts tight. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
