A FRENCH GILT-BRASS FOUR-GLASS MANTEL CLOCK BY A. & N. (ARMAND & NICOLE), CIRCA 1890 - The rectangular architectural case executed in gilt brass, designed in the Louis XVI Revival taste, with a stepped cornice above four fluted Ionic columns supporting the glazed case on a plinth base with molded feet. The clock fitted with beveled glass panels to the front, sides, and rear, allowing full view of the movement and pendulum. The circular white enamel dial with black Arabic numerals and minute track, centered by a gilded engraved brass cartouche, fitted with blued-steel hands and signed by the movement maker. The eight-day time and strike movement with two-train mechanism, anchor escapement, and a striking hour count on a bell, regulated by a visible compensated pendulum incorporating a circular suspension spring assembly. The brass backplate stamped A & N and numbered 29988. Accompanied by winding keys. Dimensions: H: 22 in., W: 15 in., D: 11 1/2 in. Conditions: General condition consistent with age and careful use. The gilded surfaces with areas of light rubbing. Glass panels intact with no significant losses. Dial clean with minor surface wear. Movement complete and appears structurally sound.
