A CARVED BUST OF NAPOLEON, SIGNED G. RUGGERI, ITALY, LATE 19TH CENTURY - A finely detailed bust depicting Napoleon Bonaparte wearing a bicorne hat and military uniform, decorated with epaulettes and orders. The bust is inscribed ”NAPOLEONE” on the front base and bears the sculptor’s signature ”G. RUGGERI” on the reverse. It is mounted on a turned ebonized circular pedestal. Footnote: G. Ruggeri was an Italian sculptor active in the late 19th to early 20th century, known for producing busts of historical and classical figures in ivory and alabaster for the Grand Tour market. Napoleon was a particularly popular subject, with such busts appealing to collectors of Napoleonic memorabilia. Dimensions: H: 9 3/4 in., (25 cm.) Conditions: No visible cracks or losses noted.
