A PAUL PIEL FRENCH ART DECO SCULPTURE 'SNAKE CHARMER', 1924 - A polished bronze sculpture of a woman contorting herself as she holds a snake in her hand, possibly representing Cleopatra's suicide, which is commonly believed to have been done by the bite of a venomous snake. This is further evidenced by the veined, red marble base which has been engraved with Graeco-Egyptian motifs. The base is signed 'Paul Piel' and copyrighted with the date '1924'.
