AN EMILE PINEDO FRENCH ORIENTALIST BRONZE SCULPTURE ”ARABE EN MARCHE”, LATE 19TH CENTURY - Depicting a standing Arab figure in motion, modeled wearing a turban and flowing robes while carrying a long staff across his shoulders. The figure is rendered with pronounced naturalism and animated movement characteristic of French Orientalist sculpture of the late nineteenth century. Raised on an integrally cast naturalistic base above a molded octagonal plinth base fitted with a titled plaque inscribed ”ARABE EN MARCHE” and ”Exp. des Beaux Arts, Paris”. Signed ”Pinedo” in the bronze and bearing the round pastille seal for fabrication by the Paris foundry ”Bronzes de Paris”. Dimensions: H: 24 3/4 in., (62.8 cm.) Conditions: Overall good condition with surface wear, scattered rubbing to the patina, and minor abrasions consistent with age.
