A CASED GOLD-MOUNTED CARVED HARDSTONE FIGURE OF A RUSSIAN INFANTRY SOLDIER - Finely carved and assembled hardstone figure depicting a Russian Imperial infantry soldier standing at attention while cleaning or inspecting his flintlock-style musket. The figure is executed in various polished hardstones, including a flesh-toned stone for the head and hands, dark green stone for the uniform, and black stone for the boots and accoutrements. The soldier wears a shako with gilt-metal insignia, braided cords, and chin scales, and is equipped with a miniature sword, a cartridge box marked with the numeral ”3”, and detailed military equipment. Mounted on a shaped stone base simulating ground and housed within a custom-fitted wooden presentation case lined with protective padding. The workmanship displays considerable attention to military uniform details and reflects the tradition of German lapidary carving workshops producing decorative military subjects. Dimensions: H: 9 in., (23 cm.) Conditions: Very good condition overall, with tiny spots of surface wear in a few places and a tiny crack on the musket stock. Colors well preserved.
