A RUSSIAN ST. GEORGE SWORD KNOT (TEMLYAK) FOR A SWORD OR SHASHKA, CIRCA 1900 - Comprising a black and orange striped St. George ribbon suspending a bullion tassel with a woven neck. Such sword knots were associated with the Order of St. George and the St. George Award Arms, and were worn on officers' sabres and shashkas as a mark of distinction for gallantry. Retains its original ribbon and tassel. Dimensions: L: 18 in., (46 cm.) Conditions: Good condition overall. Some light fraying at knot as expected for age and use.
