A RUSSIAN ORDER OF SAINT ANNA, 2ND CLASS WITH SWORDS IN GOLD, BY EDUARD, ST. PETERSBURG, C. 1908–1917 - Constructed of 14 kt gold, the order is formed as a red translucent enameled cross with finely chased gold ornamentation and crossed swords placed in the quadrants between the arms, indicating a military award. The obverse is centered with a white enameled medallion bearing a hand-painted figure of Saint Anna. The reverse has a corresponding white enameled medallion with the saint's monogram. The integral suspension ring is marked ”56” for the Russian gold standard, and the oval suspension ring is struck with the maker's mark ”B”, indicating manufacture by Eduard, St. Petersburg. One arm of the cross is additionally marked ”EDUARD” beneath the enamel. Dimensions: 49 x 45 mm. without suspension loop. Conditions: Very goo overall with enamel well-preserved.
