A WW2 GERMAN MEDAL FOR MINE RESCUE, THIRD REICH - MEDAL FOR MINE RESCUE (Grubenwehr-Ehrenzeichen) of silvered bronze, the ribbon is missing. The obverse depicts crossed pickaxes, overlaid by a raised NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The border depicts an inscription: ”FÜR VERDIENSTE IM GRUBENWEHRWESEN” (FOR MERIT IN MINE RESCUE). Silver hallmark '835' on the reverse. Dimensions: D: 1 1/4 in., (35.14 mm.) Conditions: VG.
