A RARE GERMAN 12-YEAR SS LONG SERVICE MEDAL WITH RIBBON WW2 - A scarce SS Long Service Award for 12 Years (SS-Dienstauszeichnung für 12 Jahre), instituted on 30 January 1938 and awarded for twelve years of loyal service in the Schutzstaffel (SS). The decoration is struck in the form of a silvered swastika, suspended from its characteristic dark blue ribbon embroidered with silver SS runes. The obverse displays an oak wreath enclosing SS runes, while the reverse bears the inscription ”Für Treue Dienste in der SS” (”For Loyal Service in the SS”). The 12-year award represented the second-highest grade of the SS Long Service decorations and was produced in significantly smaller numbers than the 4- and 8-year awards.
