A GERMAN MINING SERVICE AWARD FOR 25 YEARS, RHEINISCHE AG FÜR BRAUNKOHLENBERGBAU, C. 1930S–1940S - Comprising a circular silver-colored lapel badge and its original fitted presentation case. The badge depicts crossed mining hammers beneath an oak tree, encircled by the inscription ”Rheinische AG für Braunkohlenbergbau, ” referring to the Rhineland Brown Coal Mining Company. The reverse is stamped with the maker's mark of K. Berthold and the number 935, and fitted with a long lapel pin for wear. Accompanied by its original brown leatherette-covered case with snap closure, the lid is gilt-stamped ”Rheinische A.G. für Braunkohlenbergbau” above a laurel wreath enclosing the numeral ”25,” denoting twenty-five years of service. Such awards were presented to employees in recognition of long and faithful service within the German lignite mining industry. Dimensions: D: 1 1/4 in., (3.2 cm.)
