A SILVER SAINT GEORGE THE DRAGON-SLAYER SILVER DEVOTIONAL BADGE, EASTERN EUROPE, 19TH CENTURY - Formed as a diamond-shaped plaque with a beaded perimeter ornament and an integral suspension loop. Mounted at the center is a circular medallion depicting Saint George on horseback spearing the dragon beneath the Latin inscription ”S. GEORGIVS EQUITUM PATRONUS” (”Saint George, Patron of Horsemen”). The reverse is plain and fitted with a scratched owner's monogram. Probably Eastern Europe, late 19th century. Dimensions: 1 7/16 x 1 7/16 in., (3.7 x 3.7 cm.) Conditions: Good overall with light surface scratches and oxidation. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
