A FRANZ JOSEPH I MILITARY MERIT MEDAL, PERSONALIZED TO AN OFFICER OF THE 94TH INFANTRY REGIMENT - Gilt-bronze commemorative or merit medal surmounted by an Imperial Austrian crown suspension, the obverse bearing the laureate bust of Emperor Franz Joseph I facing right, circumscribed ”FRANC IOS I D G IMP AVSTR REX BOH ETC ET REX AP HUNG.” The reverse is engraved with the motto ”SIGNUM LAUDIS” within a wreath of laurel and oak. The edge is additionally engraved ”OFFIZIERSKORPS DER 94. J.T.D., ” indicating presentation by the officers' corps of the 94th Infantry Regiment (or associated unit designation). The medal reflects the long Austro-Hungarian tradition of regimental presentation awards and commemorative decorations associated with distinguished service and loyalty to the Imperial Army.
