A WW1 AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN DEFENCE OF TYROL MEDAL IN GOLD, C. 1920S - An Austro-Hungarian Imperial medal for the defence of Tyrol, awarded to troops active on that front between 1914-1918. The obverse shows the crowned Austrian Imperial Eagle with a floating wreath above its head, while the reverse shows the text 'das land tirol den verteidigern des vaterlandes 1914-1918' (the land of Tyrol to the defenders of the fatherland 1914-1918). The medal was instituted around 1928. Austria, c. 1920s. Dimensions: D: 1 3/8 in., (3.5 cm.) Conditions: Very good, with some minor spotting. Does not include ribbon.
