Eötvös József, b. – Lukács Móricz: Fogházjavítás - Pesten, 1842. Heckenast Gusztáv. VIII+350+(1)p.+3 folding appx(s). In the mid-1830s, the idea of changing the outdated prison conditions in Hungary based on Western models was maturing among some members of the reform opposition. Alongside Eötvös, Bertalan Szemere also addressed the issue. In 1838, the author published a work entitled “Vélemény a fogházjavítás ügyében”, in which he argued in favour of a so-called “silence system”, which prohibited communication between prisoners. Based on that and Lukács's ”Büntető jogi theoriák”, this work was written and dedicated to Ferenc Deák and Gábor Klauzál. Modern half leather. Spine gilt.
