Sigismund Maur (1894–1965), a pa - Sigismund Maur (1894–1965), a painter and graphic artist of the Romanian avant-garde, studied in Berlin and Zurich before returning to Romania and working in Bucharest. He was influenced by the German Expressionists and the Italian Futurists, as well as by New Objectivity. Thus, one can recognize Dix in his works, as well as borrowings from Georg Scholz. Rare portfolio “Sodoma,” 1934, 10 lithographs with social and socially critical motifs, each hand-signed, with a foreword by the prominent poet Tudor Arghezi (1880–1967), complete with title page, colophon, table of contents, foreword, and 10 plates in original fold-out portfolio, copy 22/200, the portfolio with water damage on the top edge and a worn spine, interior in good condition, with slight curling on the top edge of the lithographs and some mounting residue, 47 x 38 cm
