Large sewing box, Anglo-Indian/Ceyl - Large sewing box, Anglo-Indian/Ceylon, 19th century, calamander and other hardwoods, bone, brass. Rectangular body with fluted sides, hinged lid. Inside of lid with vegetable and geometric bone inlays and veneer (one missing section). A removable shelf with symmetrical compartments and correspondingly decorated lids, with another compartment below. Lock without key. Lid with stress cracks and slightly warped. The lids of the interior compartments are complete, though some of the mounting pins are missing; rubbed and dented, 17 x 43 x 26 cm
