The helmet is made of black lacquered leather and features a very detailed and distinctive front emblem: a gold-colored relief depicting a historical, hand-operated fire engine, Several details confirm the origin from G.A. Schöne: • The chin strap: It is made in the specific, characteristic shape by J.G. Leib, a well-known supplier who produced exclusively for G.A. Schöne. The leather strap is well preserved and features an original Brass buckle. • The helmet ”ears”: A crucial distinguishing feature. While C.A. Schöne (Dresden) helmets had red side covers (”ears”), these are discreetly designed here, clearly indicating G.A.
