The König Smoke Helmet 1870 Rarity: Original ”König Smoke Helmet” – Early Respiratory Protection for the Hamburg Fire Department (approx. 1910-1930) - The König smoke helmet from the König company in Hamburg Smoke apparatus – a König smoke helmet from the König company Hamburg. The helmet is an invention by Fire Master König of the Hamburg-Altona Fire Department. He developed these helmets at the end of the 18th century. This helmet is approximately from 1910-1930. A water nozzle (man's protective shower) is installed in the helmet. This created a water curtain above the firefighter wearing the helmet for protection. The outlet for this was on the nozzle of the water hose. Air supply to the helmet was provided by an approx. 200m long hose and a bellows. Condition ll
