Golden Badge of Honor of the Saar-Palatinate Associations, issued in memory of the Saar referendum of January 13, 1935 - The badge is a historical commemorative badge for the Saar referendum of 1935, issued by the Federation of Saar-Palatinate Associations. Badge: Saar Referendum 13.1.1935 – Federation of Saar-Palatinate Associations This was issued for the plebiscite of January 13, 1935, in which the population of the Saar region decided by an overwhelming majority to reintegrate into the German Reich. Object description Shape: High oval badge, framed by a golden laurel wreath. Design: Outer ring: On a golden background, the inscription ”SAARABSTIMMUNG 13.1.1935” (Saar Referendum 13.1.1935) is at the top and ”BUND DER SAARPFALZ-VEREINE” (Federation of Saar-Palatinate Associations) at the bottom. Center: On a black, finely structured (grained) central field there are three symbols: A silver-colored swastika in the upper area. Two crossed red hammers (pick and iron), which represent the mining industry of the region. A silver/white grape, representing the viticulture of the Palatinate. Material: Non-ferrous metal, partly colored enameled or lacquered (red/black/white), gold-colored setting. Condition Preservation: The badge is in very good condition. The colors are vibrant and the gilding of the frame as well as the inscription is excellently preserved. Details: The fine graining of the black background is clearly visible and gives the piece a high-quality appearance
