Text in the center: Below the coat of arms is the year 1936-1937 and below that the abbreviation WHW (Winterhilfswerk). Inscription (border): The outer ring bears the motto: “We belong together, then we are everything”. Below is the regional assignment: “Gau Kurhessen”. Material: These badges were usually made of a zinc alloy or other substitute metal and were gold-colored or bronzed coated. Historical context: The Winter Relief Fund of the German People was a foundation that collected donations under the slogan “Fight hunger and cold”.
