Historical French Firefighter Helmet (Casque de Sapeurs-Pompiers) - Historical French firefighter helmet (Casque de Sapeurs-Pompiers), presumably from the late 19th century or the first half of the 20th century (Model 1885 or 1895). Description Type: French Firefighter Helmet (”Adrian”-style precursor/variant). Material: Nickel-plated or polished steel sheet with brass fittings. Emblem (Plate): The front plate shows the typical burning grenade symbol (Bombarde), flanked by oak and laurel wreaths. Above the escutcheon is a mural crown. Special feature: * The enclosed loose helmet plate bears the inscription ”Sapeurs Pompiers de Thionville” (Fire Brigade of Thionville, Lorraine). This is historically particularly interesting as Thionville has a checkered German-French history. Two magnificent feather plumes (Plumets) in the French national colors (Tricolor: Blue-White-Red) as well as yellow/gold, which were worn on parades and festive occasions. Very nice condition
