Rare Copper Engraving from 1760: Fortress Plan COSEL in Upper Silesia - a rare, historically highly exciting copper engraving battle plan from 1760. The detailed sheet documents the siege of the Prussian fortress Cosel (today Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Poland) by the Imperial-Austrian troops during the Seven Years' War. At the bottom left is a decorative, stone-look cartouche with the contemporary title and a detailed, German-language “Explication” (legend from A to M), which meticulously reconstructs the exact course of military operations between October 20 and 28, 1760. Publisher/Print: Nuremberg, in the Raspische Buchhandlung (from the important contemporary series “Neues Kriegs-Theater”). Technique: Original copper engraving with contemporary / old border coloring. Age: from 1760 (original from the era of Frederick the Great). Condition II
