Plan of the Battle of Zorndorf 1758 – Old-colored Copper Engraving Küstrin Raspe Brandenburg - Rare Copper Engraving 1758 – Battle of Zorndorf Neumark Oder Warthe Brandenburg This sheet shows the legendary and unimaginably bloody Battle of Zorndorf (1758). Since the battlefield is only about 30 kilometers north of Frankfurt an der Oder (today Sarbinowo near Küstrin/Kostrzyn), this piece has an unbeatable, direct regional relevance for collectors from Brandenburg and the historical Neumark. Frederick the Great met the Russian army under General Fermor here. It was one of the most cruel engagements of the century, where hardly any prisoners were taken – an absolute key moment of the Seven Years' War, right on your doorstep. The delicate Rococo cartouche on the right side provides you with the perfect historical facts: Title: „Plan of the Battle of Zorndorf which took place on August 25, 1758 between the Royal Prussian and Imperial Russian Armies“ Important details in the text (Explication): Among other things, it describes the „Anmarch der Königl: Preußl: Armee“ (Advance of the Royal Prussian Army), the „Conjunction“ (Junction) with the army of Count von Dohna, the positioning of the Russians before Küstrin (Cüstrin) and the final „Retirade der ganzen Rußischen Armee“ (Retreat of the entire Russian Army). Geographical Highlights on the sheet: Zorndorf, the besieged Küstrin (highlighted in color center bottom), the fortress Landsberg an der Warthe (Landsberg), Himmelstädt, Quartschen (Quartschen – center of the Russian square), Zicher, Wilkersdorf, Batzlow, Darrmietzel (Darnitzel) as well as the course of the Oder and Warta rivers.
