Two Hand Painted Woven Splint Baskets - Description: Two hand-woven splint baskets, including one buttocks basket and one herb basket, both likely dating to the 19th century and made of oak splints, featuring green, pink and yellow color variations on undersides. Markings & Inscriptions: Unmarked Date: 19th Century Maker: American Dimensions: Buttocks basket: 9.5” x 11.5” x 9.75”. Herb basket: 13.5” x 22” x 15”. Provenance: From a Phoenixville, Pennsylvania collection. Condition: Fair condition. Buttocks basket has breakage along top corner and bottom corner. Herb basket has lost some of the weave on the base.
