Group of American Antique Side Chairs - Description: A group of American wooden side chairs, including a set of three maple Chippendale side chairs featuring pierced tassleback splats, ball and claw feet on cabriole legs, two side splats and a trapezoidal seat, made by Paine Furniture Company, Boston. Also includes five Queen Anne style walnut side chairs and an armchair with a solid splat, trapezoidal seat, cabriole legs, turned spindle and stretcher, terminating in padfeet, marked '1722' and '1723' on the bottom, indicating inventory number. Markings & Inscriptions: Marked Date: 19th Century Maker: American Dimensions: Tasselback: 39.5” x 21” x 17”. Queen Anne: 38 3/4” x 19” x 17”. Provenance: From a Raleigh, North Carolina collection. Condition: Fair condition. The upholstery on the Queen Anne side chairs is in poor condition, most are torn across the front of the seat. Some of the varnish on the top of the chairs has worn away. Some wear to the sides of the tasselback chairs.
