A set of four Italian pewter lidded canisters A set of four graduated Italian pewter lidded canisters of traditional urn form. Each canister is constructed from cast pewter and features a circular stepped foot, a bulbous body, and a waisted neck. The sides are fitted with twin cast drop-ring handles. The domed, tiered lids are each surmounted by a cast acorn-shaped finial and decorated with a stamped ornamental band of foliate motifs. The metal displays a dark, matte grey patina characteristic of aged pewter, with the interiors showing evidence of turning and typical surface oxidisation. The base of each canister is stamped with an impressed heraldic mark consisting of a shield divided into four quarters, positioned beneath a mural crown. A ribbon scroll beneath the shield contains the word PELTRO. Largest height: 26.5 cm Smallest height: 19 cm.
