A painted terracotta bust of a young girl representing Louise Brongniart after Jean-Antoine Houdon A painted terracotta or plaster composition bust of a young girl, sculpted in the style of Louise Brongniart after the famous original by Jean-Antoine Houdon. The girl is depicted with her head turned slightly to her left, with her hair detailed and swept up into a high bun. She wears a decorative graduated necklace of translucent dark cherry-red oval beads, likely made of an early plastic or resin, fitted with a brass screw clasp. The bust is mounted onto a polished pentagonal wooden plinth. The reverse lower edge of the bust is incised with the model number 2081 and features an illegible impressed oval maker's mark.
