Carved Wood Table Lamp Base in the Style of the Ashoka Pillar Lion Capital A hand-carved wooden table lamp base featuring the motif of the Lion Capital of Ashoka. The centrally carved pillar depicts four lions standing back-to-back atop a circular abacus. The abacus is decorated with relief carvings of the Dharmachakra and animal figures including a horse and a bull. The pillar is supported by a carved bell-shaped lotus base, which is mounted to a tiered octagonal wooden plinth. The wood is dark-stained, possibly teak or rosewood. The underside of the base bears handwritten inventory marks including 306, No. 306, and a mark resembling 1/. The lamp is fitted with a white PVC cord, an inline rocker switch, and a European-style two-pin plug.
