Bidspirit auction | Edmund Blampied (1886-1966), Reflections, Drypoint

Edmund Blampied (1886-1966), Reflections, Drypoint Print, 1925 This work is a drypoint print by the Jersey-born artist Edmund Blampied (1886–1966), titled Reflections. The composition depicts a driver in a cart drawn by a horse, accompanied by a second horse, with their forms reflected in shallow water or wet sand. The print features a visible plate mark and bears the inscription E. BLAMPIED 1925 within the plate at the lower right. On the reverse, a contemporary paper label is adhered, headed PLATE VIII. and identifying the work as REFLECTIONS (DRY POINT). The label states the image is from a proof in the possession of Victor Rienaecker, Esq., and was published by Messrs. Alex Reid & Lefèvre, Ltd., and the Leicester Galleries. A handwritten ink signature, Edmund Blampied, is present on the lower portion of this label. Given the Plate VIII designation and the specific publishing credits, this item appears to be a high-quality plate from a contemporary publication, such as the 1926 catalogue raisonné of Blampied's work by Campbell Dodgson. The print is housed in a dark grey mat and a gilt wood frame with a rope-twist pattern. Plate dimensions: 7 x 10.125 inches Frame dimensions: 15.25 x 15.5 inches.
