A Hornsea Pottery Saffron Pattern Coffee Set A set of glazed earthenware items in the Saffron pattern, manufactured by Hornsea Pottery of England. The pattern, designed by John Clappison and introduced in 1970, features a mid-century aesthetic with a repetitive, stylized four-petalled floral motif in burnt orange and ochre tones, arranged in a central rectangular band and bordered by rows of circular dots. The exteriors are finished in a brownish-orange glaze, while the interiors feature a contrasting cream-coloured glaze. The collection consists of a tall cylindrical coffee pot with a fitted lid and internal strainer at the base of the spout, several cylindrical cups with integrated handles, a lidded sugar bowl featuring a notch for a spoon, and an open cream jug. The bases of the pieces bear the stamped factory mark consisting of a stylized S logo above the words HORNSEA, ENGLAND, and SAFFRON.
