Chinese Crackle-Glaze Porcelain Warrior Fish Bowl, Late 19th or Early 20th Century A Chinese porcelain vessel of stout, ovoid form with a wide mouth and a flattened, everted rim, commonly identified as a fish bowl or warrior jar. The exterior is finished with a cream-coloured crackle glaze and decorated in hand-painted overglaze enamels in the style of the late Qing Dynasty. The continuous figurative scene depicts a battle between warriors on horseback and foot within a rocky, wooded landscape, featuring a palette of green, iron-red, yellow, and manganese purple. Notable details include a yellow banner bearing the character 帥 (Shuai, meaning commander) and a shield with the character 王 (Wang, meaning king). The shoulder and foot are accented with broad, raised bands of dark brown glaze with incised geometric and basketweave patterns intended to simulate bronzework. The flattened rim is decorated with repeating floral sprays and foliate scrolls. The interior is glazed and shows a heavy crackle pattern, while the base has a glazed centre with an unglazed foot rim and carries no reign marks. Height: 21.5 cm Rim Diameter: 24.5 cm.
