It was awarded for minor military operations in the Uganda Protectorate and Southern Sudan between 1897-1899. The medal was issued in silver. The obverse featuring Queen Victoria with ”Victoria Regina Et Imperatrix”. The reverse depicts Britannia standing holding a trident and a palm branch, with a lion behind her. Weight 45g. (10cm)
