Bidspirit auction | KARL SATORI, WIEN. A VIENNESE
KARL SATORI, WIEN. A VIENNESE WALNUT WALL MOUNTED REGULATOR MASTER CLOCK. The unique movement has inverted T shaped plates stamped on the front with the patent numbers for both his electric re-wind system and his fused silica pendulum rod. The walnut wall mounted case is in a style much favoured by this maker and has his signature massive levelling bolts. The hood lifts off to gain access to the movement for adjustments and making electrical connections. The extremely delicate wheelwork has lantern pinions and a deadbeat escapement with adjustable pallets. The escapement has a uniquely made offset crutch, with a beat setting that acts on a gimballed weight. The movement is fixed to a very heavy brass support via three pinned pillars. The separately suspended pendulum has a visually arresting frosted fused silica rod and a heavy Riefler-type, silver-plated bob No. 89. The clock has an electric remontoire with two individual weights that are reset by electromagnetic coils, and there is also a seconds contact for providing an impulse to a slave clock. (149.5cm high)
