A RARE LATE GEORGE III FOUR TRAIN MUSICAL AUTOMATION LONGCASE CLOCK the good quality figured mahogany case with satinwood and ebony inlay and reeded brass capped Corinthian columns enclosing a 14” painted dial with four season spandrels and Roman chapter ring surrounding a moonphase aperture and two subsidiary dials for calendar and days of the week, two smaller dials above the chapter ring for Strike/Silent, and Chime/Silent, the painted arch depcting a country scene with moveing seasaw, windmill and an aperture with rotating disk depicting a hunting sceen with hounds and men on horseback. The substantial four tain eight-day weight-driven movement chimes seven tunes on thirteen bells, and the quarters on a separate set of four bells. The quarter chime train wound from the side of the hood. (244cm high)
