Hugo states `Sir and excellent colleague. I cannot go to Jersey. I entrust you with Hernani, and I recommend to you my very talented women friends who have obtained a great success in France..´ further concluding with three words in English `Cordial shake hand´. Overall age wear and creasing. The letter has been affixed to a very slightly larger card. F £500-800 Hernani (1830) is a drama by Hugo. Hernani was the inspiration to Verdi´s opera Ernani (1844). On 20th June 1867 the Hernani obtained a great success at the Comédie Française.
