HEINES EDMUND: (1897-1934) German Nazi politician who served as Deputy to Ernst Rohm. Heines, one of the earliest members of the Nazi Party and a leading member of the SA in Munich who participated in the Beer Hall Putsch, was executed during the Night of the Long Knives in June 1934. T.L.S., Heines, in bold indelible pencil, one page, 4to, Breslau, 16th May 1934, to Obergruppenfuhrer Kruger, in German. Heines informs his correspondent that Obersturmfuhrer Bracht, who is a member of his staff, has offered his advice on the procurement of optical instruments such as marching compasses, field glasses, range finders etc., and comments 'I assume that the head of the training department may be interested in this, and I would like to make the suggestion that Obersturmfuhrer Bracht be received when he is in Berlin'.
