GEORGE II: (1683-1760) - GEORGE II: (1683-1760) King of Great Britain and Ireland 1727-60. D.S., George R , as King, at the head, one page, folio, Court at St. James's, 17 th December 1731. The manuscript document is a warrant for establishing a board of General Officers as 'the time limited by Our Warrant for Constituting a Board of General Officers expires the 24 th of this instant December….we have thought fit to Order and Direct that the Board of General Officers for the future shall consist of those whose Names are respectively mentioned in the list annexed (no longer present) seven of whom at any time are to constitute a Board, of which said seven General Officers Five shall be a Quorum and the Eldest at any time present to be President, and to sit as often as Our Service shall require……And to meet at the Great Room at the Horse Guards…..in order to have the Inspection of the Cloathing of Our Forces, and to consider and Report their Opinion upon all Matters, that shall be referr'd to them either by Us, or Our Secretary at Warr. And Our said General Officers are hereby required to Act and Govern themselves accordingly' . Countersigned at the foot by William Strickland (c.1686-1735) English politician who served as Secretary at War 1730-35. With blank integral leaf.
